Nikia EARN Success Story

Nikia enrolled in the EARN program during the Spring of 2022 as a SNAP participant with Goodwill of SWPA. Upon entering the program, Nikia was in the process of completing her training as Peer Specialist at the Institute of Mental Health Partnerships. This field was a natural fit for her because of her deep ties to her community, peer relationships, and her church. During her enrollment, she took advantage of the digital skills workshops that were available through Goodwill’s Core Services Department. Nikia was able to receive one-on-one instruction, that was tailored to meet her individual needs. Soon after completing her training, Nikia secured employment as a Certified Peer Specialist with Resources for Human Development in May 2022. Nikia successfully completed the SNAP EARN program in August 2022 by completing retention. Nikia continues to excel at her job and loves mentoring individuals as they begin to write their own stories of their lives.
