Opportunity knocking - National funding opportunity to solve challenges in STEM

The National Science Foundation (NSF) seeks to fund design & development pilots that aim to improve the preparation, increase the participation, and ensure the contributions of individuals from groups that have traditionally been underrepresented and underserved in STEM. NSF calls for bold, innovative ways to solve broadening participation challenges in STEM.

  • Deadline: Preliminary Proposal (mandatory): February 14, 2017 & Full Proposal: May 16, 2017
  • Number of awards: up to 25
  • Project duration: Two years
  • Award size: Up to $300,000
  • Eligible applicants: Institutions of higher education; nonprofit and for profit organizations; and state and local governments.
  • Target Population: women, persons with disabilities, African Americans/Blacks, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Native Pacific Islanders, and persons from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
