Overcoming Barriers to Build a Brighter Future

Samantha, a determined mother of two, faced immense challenges in securing employment that accommodated her family’s unique needs. As the primary caregiver for her son, who uses a wheelchair, she navigated the daily hurdles of accessibility, childcare, and medical responsibilities—all while striving for financial stability.

Despite these challenges, Samantha never lost sight of her goal: finding a job that not only supported her family but also allowed her to be present for her son. With the help of Goodwill’s Adult Career Services Program, she gained access to critical resources, including CPR and First Aid certifications, transportation support, and professional interview attire.

Thanks to this support, Samantha secured a full-time caregiver role with Citizen Care, a position that offers both financial security and the flexibility she needs to care for her son.
